Baton Rough ZOO

What good would a trip be without the Zoo?! jk We all went to the Baton Rouge Zoo. It was a chilly but fun day. Mason was mesmorized buy some of the animals. Good Day~

Girls Day/Wedding Day

Tuesday was Wedding Day for Smokey and Miss Becky's Son Kyle and his beautiful bride Delyn. They were over everyday with their three kids so we got to know them very well. Especially little Garrett. I fell in love with that 6 yr old boy. He wrote me the sweetest letter and asked me to marry him. ha ha. I wish I could have brought him home... well, maybe...he had quite the energy! :} Us girls spent the day with Delyn and her beautiful daughter Victoria going out to lunch & getting our nails done... while the men were home cooking "Cochon de Lait" aka a freaking PIG. Not bacon or pork chops. An ENTIRE pig on a stick, over the fire, apple and all!!! WOW! That was a first. They told me "Miss Lacey, we don't believe in no cake and punch down here, we gonna eat us some hog" ... and we did. Guess what...little piggy was quite good:)It was such a cool new experience:) i just wish I hadn't walked into the kitchen when the boys were 'preparing' it. Almost lost my breakfast.

Random picture.. but this is what I was doing while they were roasting the piggy

Temple Day

Wednesday VV & CL arranged for us to go to the Baton Rouge Temple to perform some baptisms, confirmations (since Em is not endowed yet and we wanted to be together) & other stuff. It was a perfect rainy day to go on and very needed. As we were all sitting in white I looked down the bench before the baptisms and I realized every single member of Seth's family was there: Each parent and all six kids in white. It was a beautiful site. I got emotional. I long to be able to do that with my side, i love my incredible family. It was a very neat day. We were able to do family names that we had learned about from Valli. Loved it:)

New Years Eve

This was probably one of the FAVORITE days!!! The Lockharts took us up to their 'camp' and we got to go 4-wheeling (which they call bikes) along the Mississippi River all day. It was probably one of the funnest times I've ever had 4-wheeling. On the way to the camp Seth & I rode with Mase so we were careful and didn't get too dirty... just took pictures of Lael and Em having all the fun.. ha ha. Once we got to the camp Seth stayed with Mase and I got to go 'play'. Jason took me, lael, josh, em, missy, and a few others on the ride of our lives. Then we switched places and the boys went for a ride. Some parts of the road were completely washed out, like water up to our head lights for long stretches and mud pits that nearly sank or tipped us. Oh the fun we had!!! I have NO pictures of the second ride because I left baby and camera back at the camp so I had nothing to be cautious about on the 4-wheeler...except mine & lael's life:) ha ha. The location was BEAUTIFUL, it was literally on the Mississippi River, we got to smell the water, watch the steamboats and river boats the whole time. It's so different there. All the cabins are on stilts, the river doesn't have a levy so everything is suspended in air so when the water raises their stuff doesn't flood. It's so funny looking. They actually get to their camp by BOAT when the water is high... CRAZY!!!!

That night we did what I had heard about before we even went on the trip... Southern Bonfires (which I had been calling B-o-m fires my entire life.. until they politely corrected me:) They collect stuff for months, even the whole year and put it in a pile on their property and light it up New Years Eve. We were able to go to two of them that night.... I've never seen such big fire. The second one (which we didn't bring our camera too) was seriously HUGE we saw it from a block away. We roasted hot dogs and ate Marsh-mellows... it was splendid!

Our Last Day:(

Our last day consisted of cleaning, taking pictures out on their front yard swing, many hours at the airport & some tears~ it was one incredible trip. VV & CL we CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH for those memories:)

Good-bye Louisiana :(

{Our EARLY Christmas}

Since we bought a house and are saving for our second adoption we decided to go 'small' this year on Christmas:) We each got each other one thing and then we filled a stocking for Mason. It was different but it reminded me of growing up when we didn't have much so we had to be really creative, which was neat. Those are some of my all time favorite Christmas'. We also carried on the tradition of writing each other a letter and putting it on the tree, except this year was extra neat cause we brought Mason in on it this year and each wrote him a letter. I love this tradition!

We had our lil' early Christmas the night before Christmas Eve. Mason's {B} family had dropped off some gifts for him and one for each of us (so sweet) so we saved those for that night too. Mason was totally into the toys grannie annie and grandpa B got him. It was so cute to watch... Never-the-less those stinkin candy canes on the tree still held him attention more than anything else. ha ha. Note to self: No candy canes next year:) I got Seth this gun holster thing camo & all that's he's been dying for. He loved it. However he completely and utterly out did me this year. I knew he was up to something. For 2 1/2 weeks leading up to this night he spend nearly 40 hours in the computer room. I'm not exaggerating either. He spent all night in there after Mason went to bed almost every night. On the last night he was up til 4AM! I was more than curious... Seth has never sent that much time on anything!!! We saved my gift for last and let just say the tears started. It was the most thoughtful, time spent, meaning gift I've EVER gotten.

He made my ENTIRE blog into a book. Not just the last year but since I started it in 2005! He had NO idea there was companies that would upload and put blogs into books for you until he was two days away from being done. So he copy and pasted every single post, had to re-size every single picture and even copy and pasted every single comment into a word document. He then had to format it and then proof read 500 pages for spaces, alignment & errors! There were no words for how I felt! It's my life for the past four years in a book. Things I never would think to write in my journal, pictures of old friends, milestones for Mason, all of the incredible support through comments.. are all in there! The neatest thing is our life in Cali is now recorded in a book. I blogged everything for my family back home and now have that book of memories for ourselves. It's the neatest thing ever. I know alot of people have had their blog made into book but the man hours and work he put into this was incredible. It put my gift for him that I ordered online to shame! ha ha. Although that's the only thing he would ask for, so I guess he really wanted it. It was a tearful night. I was so touched and overwhelmed. He said he will now do one annually for me so it a year at a time and not four years of catch up.. ha ha. I love him. It was a great start to an incredibly meaningful Christmas:)

We're HOME!!!

We flew in late Friday night from our fabulous trip to LOUISIANA! There was four plane rides in involved, some lay-overs and came home with a nasty cold... However it was all worth it! It was one of the coolest trips I've ever been on. I'm actually not in the mood to blog or even be on the computer. I spent NINE lovely days without cell phone reception, the computer or watching hardly any tv and I didn't miss it one bit! Plus I had the awsome welcoming home present of falling down the stairs in our house while unpacking... Nasty bruises and a sore body but all is well:) {So I haven't been doing much the last two days} I do have one motivation to blog our trip and that is the gift Seth got me for Christmas... (I'll share later)

I'm going to try and do it in order which means:

-Lunch with Minnie (just posted)
-Our lil' Christmas at home together before leaving
-Then LOUISIANA :)

All coming soon............

Christmas Lunch w/Minnie

On the 22nd before we left for our trip and Minnie flew home for the holidays we were able to meet for lunch at the Pizza Factory! It was the first time she got to see Mason really walking... She shares in my tears of excitiment when he does something new~ We had a great lunch and were able to hear all about her wedding details:) We love you Minnie!
