Manhattan, New York

On our last day we decided to hit more of downtown:) We rode a lot of the subway, which was pretty cool but insanely dirty! We took the Staten Island Ferry and were able to go by the Statue of liberty which was pretty cool (way smaller than I imagine, but still very cool:) We went over to Brooklyn to eat at Grimaldi’s Pizza (per my dear friend Joni's request) and we're so glad we did! It was quite the wait but it was the best pizza I've ever had! Walked down to Dumbo Park to get a good view of the Brooklyn Bridge and the amazing Manhattan Skyline. That moment was probably one of my favorites. I love views that sallow you up! The were also filming a public ad for tv things for the anniversary of 911 coming up. They had a reenactment going on, there was smoke where the two towers were, police boats, helicoptors, swat... it was kind of eery! It made our hearts hurt. I can't imagine having seen the real thing! We walked back to Manhatten across the Brookly Bridge and that was AWSOME! The structure itself was incredible but the view you got of the rest of NY was breath taking! We then made our way down to Ground Zero and the Museum that have near by. I don't have any pictures cause honestly, it was a little more sobering than we all thought. Seeing it in person than walking through the Museum and seeing all the pictures, story lines and actual stuff from that day ingited something in me I haven't felt in that intensity since that day... sadness, anger &... pride!

FSA Memories:)

i still have one more New York post but I thought I would fit this in there since it's a smaller post:)

This summer as FSA we took part in the Spanish Fork 24th of July parade again. It was much cooler this year so for that we are grateful! As always it was fun and good to be with friends!

Also a few weekends ago was the Annual FSA National Conference up in Layton. Some of me and my girlfriends decided to leave the hubby's at home with the kids and make a weekend of it! I love those ladies and for their sake I left the black mail photo's from the weekend off the internet:)  It was so much fun and I love that I have such good friends that have been on the same journey as us:)

New York (part IV)

Our second day in NY (which really our first full day) we did ALOT, ALOT, ALOT of walking! Holy Smokes! We decided not to use the subway at all the first part of the day, because we really wanted to see to the city! We literally walked from our apartment in the upper east side, down and through Cental Park (BEAUTIFUL), down 5th Ave to see all the swanky shops, shopped at H&M (LOVE), continued on through Rockfeller Center, Times Square & finally hit the Empire State Building! To say our feet were hurting were is a huge understatement! But it was so fun to people watch and really get a feel for the city! We finally got on the Subway and went down to Canal Street (where all the knock offs are) it was really cool but honestly it was so dirty! I got sick while there so my memories of that aren't the best:) We finally went back up town to go see Wicked at the Gershwin Theater. It was my second time seeing Wicked, the first was in LA and this time was just as insanely awesome as the first! It was two of my sister-in-laws time seeing a show ever, so it was way neat to share that experience with them! Afterwards we walked over to Times Square to see it at night! That was way cool and a must see if your there:)

New York (Part III)

After our Rochester visit we (Lael, Em, Missy, Dave, Seth & myself) loaded up and drove to New York City! We rented an apartment in the Upper East Side, that turned out to be even more amazing than we imagined! On our way to detoured over to Hoboken, New Jersey to visit Carlos Bakery from my beloved show The Cake Boss on TLC.  I was SO excited to stop there... I'll admit we all got a little nervous and we traveled through Jersey. YUCK! So very dirty..... My family was wondering was exactly I was taking them... eventually after a lot of gross-ness we got to a cute little historic street and we found the Bakery! SADLY they were right in the middle of actually filming so the wait time to even get in and buy something was 3 hours!!! ...truth be told I so would have waited but I didn't want to make everyone else who had never even seen the show, plus we were expected to meet the landlady for our apt so we took pictures and we were off:) Finally seeing the skyline of New York took my breath away. I've waited A LONG time to visit that city and the view was incredible! Just driving through all of it to find our apt was an adventure. We're so glad we planned to ditch the rental and travel on the subway while we were there! The first night we just settle in then walked down the street to have a yummy dinner at a place the was reccomended by our landlady!
